Stacey (from www.staceyavenue.com) is celebrating her blog anniversary and she came up with this excellent campaign for the benefit of the Filipino youth – she invites fellow bloggers to join her in her quest to spread the news about an upcoming grand event for a noble cause….
Recent UNESCO statistics shows that only one among five college freshmen will graduate. Another report yields a consistently high college drop-out rate at 73%. As such, it cannot be denied that the state of education in our country is still appalling.
Why? The reasons are plenty – poverty, priorities, tradition, family ties, and more. However, the most glaring issue that haunts all of us is the fact that while the country is continuously being mired in economic quagmire, the cost of private tertiary education continuously increases as slots for scholarships and free college education in state schools radically decline.
In response to this alarming situation, Kamanggagawa Foundation, Sports 37, UNTV, other media organizations and commercial institutions are launching the “Isang Araw Lang: Takbo Para sa Libreng Kolehiyo” (Just One Day: Run For Free College Education).
It’s a huge fun run event for a good cause – FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION (free tuition fees, free books, free uniforms, and free meals) for aspiring and deserving Filipino students. It will be held on January 31, 2010 @ SM Mall of Asia. You can join in the fun and register on or before January 23, on all Res-Toe-Run and Columbia Sportswear Outlets. For more information, check http://sports37.net.
