Mommy Moments: Mother's Day 2010

At first, I wanted to skip this week's MM because the theme was Mother's Day and I really don't have much to share about that day.  I started that day (it was actually 'night' because we were all still awake during the wee hours of the morning) with a hug, a kiss, and a greeting from hubby... The End...  Actually, I was a bit sad that day since I wasn't able to visit my Mom and give her something. I just called her up to greet her and to tell her that I love her. That's it. I also didn't receive a card or a flower from hubby **sigh** and my babies are... well, babies, so they couldn't possibly come up with a card. However, I really appreciate all the bloggers, online friends, and "offline friends" :) who extended their greetings to me. I really felt remembered with all the FB photo tagging, wall posts, and mails. Before I started making this post, I read Mommy Chris' MM entry and she noted that we should write about why this year...

Mommy Moments: Message to Mom

This is for my mom. It's a mash up of mommy messages which best express how happy I am to have my mom - and how much I miss her. I'll have this printed, poster size, and I'll give it to her the next time we go on a visit. I wasn't able to spend mother's day with her because we couldn't commute with all the babies... and we can't afford to rent vans now - not yet... ***sigh***. I always give my mom cards and letters during mom's day and I'm really happy that she has kept those cards since. SHOUT OUT TO MAMA: MISS NA MISS KO NA KAYO!!! P.S. Mommies, I'm hosting my first ever blog contest this June and maybe you can sponsor it... Please check the details here:  http://ejcayaba.blogspot.com/2010/05/wanted-sponsors-for-my-breaking-free.html ... I can also send you the contest mechanics if you'd like, just leave you email addy. Thanks!

Mommy Moments: Dear Mommy

Dear Mommy Dear Mommy, your child is your princess. She is your responsibility. If not for her own sake, never let her get hurt by any means. Dear Mommy, your child is your fan. She learns and takes after what you do, how you feel, where you go, how you react, what you think, why you love and why you hate. For her, be the best. Do not fail at being a good person for she too might suffer the same fate. Dear Mommy, your child is your student. Teach her everything that you know and guide her in every way that you can. Bombard her with good thoughts, warm emotions, and logical and critical reasoning. Empower her with love, understanding and patience. Dear Mommy, your child is your flesh and blood. Accept her. Recognize the whole of her - strengths, weaknesses, successes, and failures. Never forsake her for making wrong decisions and doing wrong things. She needs your guidance and your encouragement, not your pity, pride, and punishment. She needs you even when she says she doesn...

Mommy Moments: BLUE

The Crib is blue. So is the stroller. So is the carrier. So are some feeding bottles, hooded blankets and towels, onesies, shorts, shirts. even the baby bag is blue. So many blue stuff for a household full of baby girls. haha :)

Mommy Moments: RED

The theme of Mommy Moments for this week is RED. Unfortunately, the kids don't have lots of red stuff... In fact, the twins do not own red things..only yana has a red shirt plus 2 pairs of red shoes (I posted the pic of the other pair during the 'shoes' theme before)... Another pic, close-up :) (I'm loving Mommy Moments!) Ellana Victoria  (that's how it was spelled in her birth certificate :( though I wanted to stick with the "Eliana") Although Ysha and Yza don't have red dresses, they have lots of pink stuff and I have to sneak in some of their latest pics here :) They're growing soooo fast! Look at how big they are now at two months considering that they were only 6 pounds each when they were born! Elisha Velika Elyza Venize

Mommy Moments: Yellow

I would have bought a bunch of yellow baby thingies if I knew I would have Ysha and Yza instead of a boy and a girl. I never realized that my kids didn't have any yellow dress until now... well, I guess that's okay since we have pink here - tons of pink. But then, we still have something yellow here- something all of your kids would probably recognize - SpongeBob :) and aside from Spongebob, my yana also has her favorite smiley balls (reminds me of my pair of princesses)...

Mommy Moments: Moving Up

This week's theme is Moving Up so let me enumerate some of the things that the girls have achieved in the past few weeks... Yza and Ysha They were born Feb 12 and now, they are almost two months. Their weights have doubled though Yza is slightly heavier and bigger than Ysha. Both of them can see now but I don't know if they only see our silhouette or they can clearly see us already. Also, both of them are starting to do 'humming' like sounds. Yana My eldest is now a year old plus two months. She started walking when she was ten months old and now she's running - fast. I can't even outrun her now (I'm still having a difficult time balancing and walking after my pregnancy.. haaay). She's also jumping now and she has learned how to open and close the fridge, and turn on the TV. Yana also dances better now.. sometimes with both hands raised as she keeps turning round and round. She enjoys watching "So you think you can dance" and she's trying t...

Mommy Moments: Summer Days are Here!

Summer is finally here and I hope we can go out of town soon - perhaps we'll try Tagaytay or Baguio (we can, if we can get that car and nanny soon)... Anyway, we have no specific plans yet so I figured that I should just post some tips on how us mommies can best take care of our babies during summer. Increase fluid intake - preferably water. Also, never give your baby water from roadside vendors. Keep in mind that there's been countless exposes on street vendors who transfer tap water into used mineral water bottles. To be safe, we should always carry food and water for our baby wherever we go with them. Choose cotton. We always love to dress up our babies but this summer, let's stick with cotton. Also, let's go with the sleeveless-short tandem and temporarily put away those pants and sleeved shirts. Avoid peak heat hours. Don't let your baby go outside from 10 am to 5 pm - unless you two are going straight to the mall or anywhere airconditioned. Cool blasts sh...

Mommy Moments: Cars and Kids

This week's theme is 'Cars and Kids'. Unfortunately, we don't have a car... and we need it much, considering that we're already five now :) Anyway, I know for sure that Yana loves riding in a car. When we rented cars/vans for my prenatal check-ups before, Yana enjoyed the rides so much. During day rides, expect to see her well-behaved on her seat and staring at the windows... but come night time, prepare yourself for she will really try to stand on her seat and stick her face against the mirror (though I keep on pulling her back) :) Though she's a girl, hubby still bought a toy car for her and she liked it as well. On another note mommies, I'd like to share some pictures of the twins to you... Ysha and Yza are already a month old now :) Elyza Venice Elysha Velika And Mommies, I'm asking for your support again... Please drop by and comment on my entry for another blog contest I joined. Mommy Moments: First Aid Tips (Choking and CPR)

All the while I thought you can perform the same CPR procedures amongst infants and adults but I was wrong. In line with our Mommy Moments topic for this Friday - First Aid Tips, I decided to do my research on choking and CPR for babies. What follows is a guide I copied from babycenter.com.ph... FIRST AID FOR CHOKING 1. Dislodge the blockage POSITION: Hold your baby so that he is lying face down along your forearm with his head lower than his body and his back and head supported. STEPS: * Use the heel of your hand to give up to five back blows. * Check your baby's mouth and remove any obvious obstructions. Do not use your finger to sweep inside his mouth. This could push the obstruction further into his throat. 2. Give five chest thrusts POSITION: Turn your baby onto his back and give up to five chest thrusts: STEPS: * Use two fingertips to push inwards and upwards (towards his head) against his breastbone, one finger's width below his nipple line. * Try to dislodge the object ...

Mommy Moments: Song From a Mom's Heart

The sleepy heads which are fond of my lullabyes Among the songs which best describes what I feel for my kids are Slipping Through My Fingers and Not While I'm Around I first heard Slipping Through My Fingers as part of the movie Mama Mia and I cried. Here are some of the lines which best express my feelings for my kids... "Slipping through my fingers all the time I try to capture every minute The feeling in it Slipping through my fingers all the time Do I really see what's in her mind Each time I think I'm close to knowing She keeps on growing Slipping through my fingers all the time Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture And save it from the funny tricks of time Slipping through my fingers..." As for Not While I'm around, I first heard it when I watched the play Miss Saigon (Not that of Lea's, just a school rendition). I loved it even more when it was sang as part of the Johnny Depp Movie. As with the first song, here are some lines I like... ...

Mommy Moments: My Yana’s Favorites

Favorite Activities: Fortunately, she has gotten past her inclination to electric wires and bulbs. Now, she is more fond of walking, picking up little bits and pieces and eating whatever it is that she can pick up, taking a bath, riding a motorcycle, playing peek-a-boo, tracking reflections on the mirror, hugging, kissing, cuddling, and dancing (in an odd sit-down-sit-down-you’re-rocking-the-boat manner). Favorite Food: Chocolate cake, Cream-O, Fried Chic ken, Fried Tilapi a Favorite Color: Yellow Favorite Cartoon Character: SpongeBob. S he’s a certified Spongebob fanatic. She yells whenever she sees Spongebob – on TV, on someone else’s shirt, keychains, bags, stickers, blankets, whatever. On top of that, whenever she hears the TV show’s theme song, she starts dancing and yelling (in a sing-song tone). Favorite Music: Spongebob’s theme song Favorite TV Show: Spongebob Square Pants Favorite Pet: Cat (She yells “cat” whenever she sees cats --- and dogs) Favorite Gadget: Mobile Phones an...
